The Environmental Watch and Management Institute (EWMI) has been celebrating Earth Day continuously from 2011 to 2026, carrying the message of environmental protection and sustainable development to students, teachers and local communities.
Over the years, EWMI has organized Earth Day programmes in different parts of Assam, including Aspirational Districts and other environmentally important and community-based locations. Each year's programme has addressed a distinct environmental theme, reflecting the emerging environmental challenges and priorities of the time.
The celebrations have included awareness campaigns, seminars, lectures, tree plantation programmes, rallies, exhibitions, competitions, community outreach and educational activities, providing opportunities for people, particularly students and youth, to understand environmental issues and participate in meaningful action.
From 2011 to 2026, EWMI's Earth Day journey represents more than a decade of sustained environmental awareness and community engagement.
Through these annual programmes, EWMI has sought to connect environmental knowledge with local action, particularly in communities where awareness and participation can make a lasting difference.
Each year's Earth Day programme has been designed around a specific theme and set of activities, enabling EWMI to address important issues such as:
